New strategic partnership in the microwave radio market – Plusnet partners with Compart

Lünen, November 24, 2025 - On January 1, 2026, Plusnet GmbH, based in Cologne, will launch a strategic partnership with the Compart Group from Lünen, Westphalia.

‍

The focus is on the acquisition of microwave infrastructure and the provision of all microwave wholesale services (Wireless Local Loop, WLL) for the Cologne-based telecommunications company Plusnet. To this end, Plusnet has spun off its German microwave network into BROADNET Deutschland GmbH, which will operate under the Compart banner starting in the new year.

‍

"This step combines the microwave resources of both companies to ensure a high-performance, sustainable service for radio-based internet access and telecommunications services throughout Germany. In addition, as part of this strategic partnership, we will explore making further solutions available to Plusnet's business customers," says Compart Managing Director Dirk Hartmann.

‍

"In addition to our fiber-optic and VDSL portfolio, we want to continue offering our business customers wireless access options nationwide – for example, as a fail-safe redundancy solution for critical infrastructure (KRITIS) companies. We have found the ideal partner for this in the German market leader for wireless access, the Compart Group. Thanks to Compart's nearly 30 years of experience and expertise in all areas of radio technology, we and, above all, our business customers will benefit enormously from this collaboration – both technologically and in terms of our service offerings," says Plusnet CEO Ulrich Hoffmann.

‍

With the acquisition of Broadnet Deutschland GmbH, Compart now offers an exceptional service level across eleven regional service locations in Germany, supplemented by three high-performance spare parts logistics centers in Hamburg (North), Lünen (West), and Augsburg (South), to execute nationwide installation services highly efficiently and minimize fault clearance times.

‍

BROADNET is returning its headquarters to its "old home in Hamburg" and will take over the main logistics for the Compart Group.

‍

"We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues, who, together with the Compart team, offer unparalleled microwave expertise in the German microwave business," says the new Broadnet authorized signatory and technical director, Christian Happe. "They provide the best media-neutral network redundancy, especially in the area of fail-safe networks for critical infrastructure (KRITIS) companies."

‍

"This is excellent news for our existing national customers, especially the new TRN customers, who can count on the high-performance service of Broadnet," adds Tobias Ladewig, who is responsible for customer support following the simultaneous acquisition of the microwave specialist TRN, Greifswald.
